In retirement. He did give the after-dinner speech at the VSTTE
conference
in Zurich in 2005, and he was brilliant. I wish I could remember
exactly what he said about C++ - I think the word "abomination" was
in there somewhere... :-)

I met him afterwards and had a brief chance to chat and thank
him for his influence on SPARK.
