BootStrap & newbie questions

Hi guys !

I'd like to know if there is any good site to learn about how to design a
bootstrap loader (not just source code .. i want to read the theory too!! ).

Also, does anyone know of any good sites about the basics of where to start
to create a little commandline OS (ok ok i guess i should call that a shell
instead :P ) ??
