After the experience my wife and I had with some conventional doctors,
we generously apply grains of salt to what the doctor says. When we
were school children we read and wrote on paper black on white, and on
the blackboard white on black. I am not aware of any eye damage to
us, our school mates, or for that matter any school children (the
media would have jumped on any report of such eye damage).
The distinction between emittive and reflective light is more
relevant. Sometimes I wonder about the difference, in terms of the
effect on the eye, between television and computer displays vs. older
light emitting equipment such as microfilm readers.
