I actually joined the group recently (Well, sometime in the last
month) so there should be no problem with joining.
However, from what I know/can remember (my memories not that good!
:D) you have to wait until the mod get round to checking for new
people trying to subscribe and sent you an email asking you whether
you actually want to join. So you might just have to wait a few
days...
