Advice Please: Assembly Language Programming Book

I've picked up several books on Assembly language programming in the
past with the intent of learning the language from the bottom up, but
I've run into a wall, because for some reason most of these books are
written with the assumption that the reader has some prior experience
with computer programming.

Since I couldn't find an "Assembly Language Programming for Dummies"
book, I'd appreaciate any advice on what would be the best books for
learning Assembly for someone who knows nothing at all about
programming.
