Got a nice visit from the Department of Family and Children's
Services...
Appears they got a report from someone attached to the school my son
just started attending this week.
Oh Lord! Child Abuse! He had finger paint on his nails still from the
previous day! He was wearing his "night shirt" to school and had an
odor! Call out the FBI! My wife also forgot whether or not he had eaten
breakfast Friday when we went to meet with the school officials at
noon. She later remembered he did, and I decided to not leave him
Friday to ensure he'd eat even though the teacher said she'd get him
something.
Geez. He is 4, suffers from Asperber's (my wife scored higher than he
did on the test), is deathly afraid of baths. He has progressed from
one a week (people used to only bathe that often, one hears) to almost
every other day. Tuesday just wasn't that day. He had tucked in his
shirt he slept in, and some urine wicked up from his pull-up. He isn't
potty trained, part of his condition, but he is close. I changed his
shirt, cleaned him up. And he has never adapted a rigid eating
schedule. He eats when he is hungry, and he knows how to let you know!
I showed the shirt to the Gestapo agent. It had no odor, but is a
little undersized. We just moved into town, are a little disorganized.
It was a clean shirt, I put it on him myself. Upon seeing it was small,
I wanted to change it. But he didn't want it changed. You don't argue
over something so petty with an Asperger's child - it ruins their day.
But it was clean. I could ask why they didn't clean off the finger
paints?
Anyway, the Gestapo moved on to other things. You know we aren't
allowed to have stuffed animals in our 11 month old's crib? That our
son's bed requires a *** on it? It is one of those blow-up beds, in
the shape of a fire truck, with a blow-up mattress with one side like
velvetty/felt. He sleeps with a favorite blanket.
Even checked our stock of food! And we had to sign paperwork to allow a
criminal background check on us!
Welcome to the New America...
P.S. - looked like it was about time for an off-topic post... and I
needed to blow off steam...
