I still use my own RAM-check routines and don't care what the BIOS says.
same problem here, so I first run a hardware-detector and collect
all info, including partitions on all found HDs, so I can find my
OS in this list (but in doubt if I had two identical options).
A good idea, to let the formatting/make-boot already write the info into
the boot sector, as at least here it seems to be known for the last time.
I built my very first "PC" with Z80 (started 1979),
it is still working, even rare used yet ;)
isn't my world (I see it as an 'open C-source windoze-variant')
