Re: SpooK, its put up or shut up time.

There is some background to this nonsense that needs to be addressed.
We have a subforum at the masmforum called the "Soap Box" that comes
with this caption,

------------------------------------------------
A place to throw around non programming ideas in your leisure. Have you
ever had a truly crackpot theory you wanted to get off your chest ?
Here is where you do it if you can get any takers. To avoid World War
III we don't allow religious or political matter in here.
------------------------------------------------

One of our members who is from Venezuela who admits that his English is
not very good put together and idea and posted it in the Soap Box that
contained bits of the old Testament and a theory of how it relates to
sex. He was not attempting to be obscene and he did not post any
pornography but he did find the ire of one of SpooK's moderators,
Donkey who started to try and dictate what will and what will not be
posted in the masm forum.

Subsequently the thread picked up a number of responses that were
specifically religious in content so rather than try and edit some of
the posts out and leave others in place, I removed the thread, sent the
original author a PM explaining why and posted an explanation in the
forum explaining why it was removed.

This brought yet another response from Donkey who took it upon himself
to try and reinterpret the rules of the forum. Not being impressed with
the racial and social arrogance involved in trying to trample over one
of our members according to this self elected form of superiority, I
made my view very clear as to what I though of Donkey's posting.

Some time later another of our members reported that a link posted by
yet another member had been blanked out in SpooK's forum and some time
after I get told of SpooK's editorial with a direct personal attack
pointed at myself.

Now I will adress just a few details of what SpooK's personal attack
involves.

1. I am a tyrant. This is in fact correct and anyone who ever tries to
sh*t on any of our members will find this out very quickly and I don't
give a flying PHUK if its one of SpooK's moderators or not.

2. "I made no direct effort to notify him or anyone from that forum of
what was going on."

You can tell everyone that I have set-up optimal settings for allowing
connections to the server. I am pretty much limiting
asmcommunity.net:80/syn requests, firefox should work fine, but IE
tends
to burst many connections at once and may seem unresponsive.

All-in-all, it will not be as fast as it used to be... but things
shouldn't be too bad... especially something that is for free :)
-------------------------------------

Pull the other leg.

3. "I would love for him to support MASM32 here under our guidance"

Trust me on this much, I don't need SpooK's guidance with the masm32
project or anything else. The project is written purely for programmers
and will never be subordinate to any other interest.

4. "he will be banned... permanently."

Hold your breath waiting. All SpooK has done here is garrantee I will
no longer help answering questions in his forum.

5. What is the motive for this unusual personal attack ?

"You can't lose what you already have lost. Hutch and his primary
supporters have long since left this place as primary medium for
discussion."

The solution to falling numbers and membership is to get off his arse
and do enough work to make the forum viable again. Trashing the support
for the main engine of assembler programming in win32 is not a smart
thing to do. It excludes a large number of programmers who were active
members of the old win32asm forum.

6. "No, actually I have reopened the MASM32 subforum."

Do me a favour and close it, Harold refused to do this at my request
because he needed the support of MASM programmers to try and keep the
old win32asm forum going.

7. "What made hutch stop completely was the realization that my closing
of the MASM32 subforum and the establishment of redirections to his
forum shifted attention and focus to his forum."

This is simply claptrap, the masm32 project fuels the masmforum and
with 130 gig of downloads on the servers I can check easily in the last
month, nothing is going to change here quickly.

There is more that could be adressed but i will not bother, it is
enough to indicate that I am disappointed in SpooK making this attack
when I have gone out of my way to help where I could. Perhaps SpooK
needs to evaluate who is pissing in his ear a little closer and start
making better decisions.

Fundamentally SpooK is an OK dude who was hard headed enough to clean
up the virus infiltration that trashed the old win32asm forum and was
persistent enough to keep going with weeks of DDoS attacks on his
server but he needs to smarten his act up some if he wants to keep his
resurrected forum alive and well.

Contrary to the childish nonsense of blocking the masmforum, i will
continue to encourage people to support the new SpooK forum becauase at
the rate he is driving people away, he needs all of the support he can
get.
