To me, RFC is the main candidate for checking the conventions of a
given standard.

Best not to use such broken interfaces.

Everybody can use the interface he/she likes, you can't say "let's
ignore those users, because they use a broken interface", it's often
not that easy.

The convention is to change the subject line when the topic
drifts too far from the original topic, as I have done here.

Show me where you got that "convention" please, I'm interested.

Actually, he is trying to avoid annoying many people.

By imposing his own thinking to newsgroup readers who don't need him to
dictate what to read or not ?

Sorry but I don't agree, maybe you like people to decide for you what
to read or not. I don't.
