Nope that was okay. Perhaps you should just loop through the string
and display it yourself. You already have the basics for it. Video
memory map. Btw the test machine is VMWARE. Here are some tips when
writting an boot loader or some software that DOES not have an OS.
1) Disassemble the code that your have compiled. Make sure you are
interpreting it correctly. 16 or 32 bit.
2) Always make sure you have the manual to the instruction set ready!
This included vol3 .
3) Use the make tool for easy rebuilds
4) Hunt all the info before starting out. Best place is the kernel
which may be linux or freebsd.
5) Always make sure you know where you are and what you need to do
next.
6) Always test on multiple machines.
John
PS: You have some more stuff to do before you can load the task.
Suggest that you sit back and read vol3 and start applying the bits at
a time.
Thank you, johnzulu.
I see the white A now (and brown A).
However, the other text such as "Our OS boot sector loading ......"
shows up as garbage chars. This was another issue with Raghu's
version as well. Did this show up as garbage chars to you?
Thanks.
Thank you for the tips, john. BTW, what VMWare VMX file do you use?
I'm wondering if it's some freeware I could get for myself.
