Hi Santosh
I am a os developer and i am currently developing my GUI library,
i found if i use CPU to draw something to the screen, it is very very
slow, the refresh rate will become <2 per second, which is
unacceptable.
If the display card company really don't release the interface,
using vesa is the only one way to help me?
vesa.org -> Vbe3.pdf
Linear Framebuffer (need VBE2)
Refresh Rate Control (need VBE3)
VBE/DDC to obtain monitor operational limits (dont work with BNC-cable)
(EEDIDguideV1.pdf)
Hardware Triple Buffering (need VBE3)
Stereoscopic Liquid Crystal Shutter Glasses (need VBE3)
Note that the VBE/Core specification does not include any support for
hardware acceleration functions such as 2D and 3D graphics primitives
or video acceleration. If you wish to use such features please refer
to the VBE/AF Accelerator Functions specification (contact VESA for
more information).
....
A versions-check of my ATI X800pro results VBE3, but this card
dont provide Refresh Rate Control(not all modi tested),
but Hardware Triple Buffering, so i am confusd.
An ATI 9800pro only provide VBE2.
Only Nvidias cards like my Geforce4 provide all stuff of the
VBE3-Specification.
