What he seesm to be saying is that asm is good for getting nowhere, but
only for learning the machine. And that you should then continue using VC
when you learned how the machine works. This is to say that he is an
expert in asm, and and expert in the use of VC, but fully unable to draw
the best from each. This can only mean that he never tried to do a large
project in neither ASM nor VC, so he doesnt know to what extent the VC
road will turn just as hard as the starting with asm and dos. That made
him sound like a teacher to me.

Some people go camping with a "house upon wheels" (they take everything
with them, vacuum cleaner, television, dishes, furnature, etc.) and
never really get to experience *camping* because they can not escape
the things (technology) which tie us to civilization.

Only the person who goes camping with what he can carry on his back
knows what *camping* really is about. But if he should find himself in
the middle of New York City, then they will call him homeless.
