I don't see what the problem is that privately funded corporations do
research that WOULDN'T BE DONE otherwise in the first place.
There already is a problem you don't see is with the "WOULDN'T BE DONE".
The things concerning everybody belong to the state, and not to private
areas. It is noticable that States tend to live happy with private
corporations doing jobs that should be under the responsability of
the states, and this is highly damagable. Research (as bound to sciences)
should naturaly belong to the states, the Universities, and in no way to
Capitalism, and the fact that states would not do their jobs is not any
validation of anything.
I wouldn't leave finding the cure for the cancer for public sector
alone, no way, things like this are way too important to not
*everyone* to have a motivation to solve the issue. For corporations
the motivation is primarily money, so what? They will pirate the
medicine in China or some place else anyway and sell for peanuts,
while the corporations also make a nice profit from other's misery.
While this may sound harsh, making profit out of others misery, you
cannot ignore tha fact that there *is* a cure for cancer in this
situation if it ever happened in the first place.
? And then ? What are we talking about? We are talking about intellectual
Property, and as long as Intellectual Property _kills_, intellectual
Property is crime. What else?
The long-term effect of even increasing lifespans and population will
create a hell of a lot more misery than cancer ever did. But that
assumes you take a broad look into the cause and effect in a long span
of time.
Of course. Self-evident: If you prefer, go and kill directly all of
africans showing any AIDS desease, and you will solve all of their
problems at once. This is one another example why nature and humanity
are different things. Humanity is Left-Wing and nature is Right-Wing,
and, in nature, there is no such a problem as the deseases one: It
has already been solved by the natural selection. Absurd.
