My long lasting idea is about setting up a new standard and bombard
all HW-manufacturers with the weight of the several thousand ranting
programmers found in all the related newsgroups.

This Programmers_Demand_Standard could be just an extension of existing
ATA,ATAPI,PCI(AGP,APMI,UDMA,USB,...),ISApNp,VESA...

DirectX was once annonced to become the missing link, but it's just
another detouring link between hw and the windoze-core.
