Original install? Or do you have to "reinstall system" occasionally? Can
you run for weeks on end without having to reboot?

To be fair, it is my impression that Windows 2000 was, (and is?), the
stablest of Windows versions. Apparently it was the initial code base for
XP, which was much more messed. Now, Vista seems a pure horror.

Last Windows I ran -
98 - I didn't have to reinstall too often (roommates had to do it more
often - and had to help Joe User... okay, Jane User... reinstall fairly
often). I did have to reboot after two or three days, 'cause the system
got slow - if it stayed up that long. My current uptime is only a little
over eight days - power failure, IIRC. I almost *never* "have to
reboot". Your mileage may vary.

Any reason for running continuously? Are you running a server?
My box averages about eight hours a day, don't have the money to pay for
electricity bills for continuous uptime.

Most days, I find Linux a powerful OS, capable of doing what I want.
Some days, it seems to delight in finding unique reasons why I can't do
what I want. I think it's a trolless. :)

Even if Linux were technically worse than Windows, (which of course, it's
not and is never going to be), or less user friendly than Windows, (again,
practically speaking both are comparable nowadays), I'd still use either
Linux or a BSD, purely because of Microsoft's evil pricing and systematic
abuse of customers, partners and competitors.

It's sickening every time I read an ad for a computer system, with that cute
little notice at the top, "XXX recommends Genuine Microsoft (TM) Windows
(TM) Vista (TM)". Substitute XXX with Compaq/Dell/whatever.
