Probably true.
BUT, first learning Latin wil give you a great handle on the Romance
family of languages, which include Romanian, Italian, Modern Spanish,
Catalan, Castilian and Portugese, and actually the origins of yes,
Lange d'Oc, Lange d'Oil, ('hoc ille' in Medieval French), Modern
French and a strong contributor to English as we know it.
So learning fundamental concepts and tools of a discipline DOES help
understand descendant technologies.
