Hi All,
I decided to port all my development from DOS over to Ecomstation (OS/2 Warp 4.52, as I notice Watcom C is also available on this platform too). I noticed there is a port of Nasm as well. I grabbed the latest version I could find, 2.00rc3, but it wont seem to run. I get this:
[C:\]ver
The Operating System/2 Version is 4.50
[C:\]nasm
SYS1808:
The process has stopped. The software diagnostic
code (exception code) is 0005.
[C:\]ndisasm

Any ideas (Frank?) ;)
Hi Fred,
No clue, I'm afraid. Never run OS/2. I don't think I could get the demo disk IBM sent me - way back when - to run (probably my hardware wasn't up to it... even then).
I don't suppose knowing what exception code 0005 is would help - "segfault", probably(?). I see "TARGET=OS2V2"... if OpenWatcom has a "OS2V45" target, that might be worth a try. I'm assuming it's something in the build process, rather than Nasm source itself(?). With some of the old Borland compilers, asking for less optimization sometimes helped...
Bummer. It would have been nice if it'd "just worked" for ya. Perhaps someone more familiar with OS/2 will have an idea. Seems a rather "exotic" platform to move development to. What's the advantage?
Best,
Frank
