<ot> btw, I want to bring this Bernanke speech to your attn:
http://www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents/speech/bernanke20090218a.htm
There are a number of insightful gems in there...but this one proves
my prior discussion point:
"
The liability side of the Federal Reserve's balance *** is
relatively simple, consisting primarily of currency issuance (Federal
Reserve notes) and reserves held by the banking system on deposit with
the Federal Reserve.
"
One should ask himself; in what way is the Fed liable to holders of
currency in circulation. -only in the sense of a future payoff in
statutory dollars.
Well, I responded to this in my prior post. You brought up more on our past
conversation on banking, so I'll bring up more on our past conversations on
"Big Brother"... The following came across today. The Federal going is
going to want to pass a Federal law to track all road vehicles *EVERYWHERE*
via GPS after a major study recommended it:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090221/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/lahood_vehicle_milea
ge_tax
It's all for road taxataion purposes, of course, which is total BS... Why
do you need GPS to tally mileage for taxation? The device that does that is
called an odometer. It seems "Big Brother" just never ends when "Big
Government" exists.
First the banking for tax purposes, then the phones for fighting crime, then
the email for, well, nobody still knows, then American outrage changes the
law, then the phones and email without American consent, then public air
transportation... now, personal travel is going to be monitored. Has anyone
here begun to see the parallels to totalitarianism or Nazi-ism where
*EVERYONE* is monitored *ALL THE TIME* by an *OUT OF CONTROL* government due
to it's *PARANOIA*?
I'd really like our new President to answer a tough question:
What do you feel about the Federal government attempting to surreptiously
"enslave" and "chain" citizens, including minorities, to the US gov't. via
technology such as GPS, rfid, tax and child support databases, phone and
email wiretaps, etc.? As a minority, aren't you *EXTREMELY* offended?
Don't you see currently separate "Big Brother" citizen monitoring systems
becoming a singular cohesive "entity" due to some valid rationalization:
terrorism, protectionism, protect our children, our future, our jobs, our
country, etc.?
The illegal drug trade is based almost entirely on pricing. Our laws set
the outrageous pricing. If we legalized drugs for only his term, the drug
companies would put all the drug criminals responding to US pricing out of
business within the first year. It'd also be interesting to have Obama
answer how he feels about the US destroying numerous other countries, and
economically forcing minorities of other countries into drug production
around the world because of our pricing of illicit drugs due to our laws.
Democrats elected him because they thought he'd support minority causes and
change. I already believe he'll be mostly a "dud" of a President due to
conflicts between supporting minority rights or restitution, and ensuring
lawfulness or safety... Helping retrieve Geronimo's bones for his
ancestors, for another minority group, from Skull and Bones et. al. is just
one of dozens of such issues that'll come up over his term. Guantanamo,
freeing of other minorities, deemed "terrorists", is another one... And, I
for one, will be judging him on what got him elected. I'll especially be
judging him on his ability to put an end to US pricing driven illegal drug
trade that has destroyed lives of minorities around the world and in US
cities.
It's interesting how many 80's and early 90's Heavy Metal songs still today
accurately characterize politics, society, religion, war, etc. Songs by
Metallica, Megadeath, Metal Church, Queensryche, etc. Prescient? In this
case, we could take the song "Empire" from Queensryche's 1990 album
"Empire":
"...
Gotta hustle if he wants an education
he's got a long way to go.
Now he's out on the street all day
selling Crack to the people who pay.
Got an AK-47 for his best friend
business the American way.
....
Black man, trapped again. hold his chain in his hand.
Brother killing brother for the profit of another,
Game point, nobody wins. Decline, right on time.
....
"
I doubt our President has even heard that song... Almost two decades after
it was written inner city minority black and hispanic drug gangs are as rife
as they were when the song was written. He should cry, and then do
something or be seen as a "dud".
