Hi,
a year ago I learned for hobby some assembly on the Win32 platform. I tried out MASM, A86, NASM,
GAS and Spasm, plus some other minor assemblers. Eventually I choosed MASM because of its support
for symbolic debugging under WinDbg. Now I'm back, and I'd like to know if only MASM is free and
supports symbolic debugging. I'd like to use OllyDbg as the debugger; I discovered it some time ago
for other, and liked it.
At that time:
- A86 was DOS only, and not free;
- NASM did not generate symbolic debugging under Windows;
- GAS did, but in format palatable only to GDB, which is command line (I wasn't able to compile DDD,
the graphical front-end);
- Spasm (now RosAsm?) AFAIK did not generate standard debugging info and was not command line.
Any suggestion.
Thanks
