Try reading "Bridge for Dummies", and compare it to some of the other
introductory books on bridge out there. Its definitely better than most,
and quite likely among the best. It helps that its written by Eddie
Kantar, who's both a good player and a good teacher.
Out of curiosity, have you read any of the non-computer "...for Dummies"
books? I've leafed through a few, and I find that the quality seems to
be quite varied [though I can't say I've found any as bad as Schild's C:
Complete Reference].
