fine that we got a 2 TB limit for NTFS in theory ...
but my XP is unable to even format 64 GB or recognise HDs >128 GB.
Hi guys,
A year or so ago, I bought a 151 GB drive for a WinXP box. After
reading a bit, I too was thinking that WinXP would only see
the first 128 GB. However, I went looking and found a patch on
a Dell support site that allowed WinXP to see all 151 GB. I don't
remember where on the site, and I don't remember whether is was
a patch for WinXP, or a patch for some firmware for the controller.
Anyway, once I installed the patch, WinXP has been using all
151 GB.
Yes, there are a some offers on LBA48-drivers and also SP2 or 3
seem to make XP know what LBA48 may mean ... :)
I also have a 500 GB external USB drive that WinXP see's just fine,
though since it is USB, that may play a different role in the
size limitations.
Dunno, I think it will also use a special dedicated driver.
