That's not easy to answer. I know some people who have gotten C++ jobs when
they had no specific C++ experience at all (obviously, the employer realized
that there would be some learning time, and that the employee already knew
about computers and programming to a certain extent.) (Having said that,
I've also known some people in companies to change jobs - from a
non-programming field to a programming field. Here, the first language
probably doesn't matter too much.) Then there are jobs that are very
specific and discriminating with regards to the level of expertise that is
expected. The answer is "it depends".
