"The C++ Standard Library - A Tutorial and Reference",
by: Nicolai Josuttis is an *excellent* book to have, and
recommended by everyone as one of the best, and I agree.
There is also this on-line (again reasonable) reference

Btw, what was wrong with the 'Dinkumware' site ?
