This is the response I got from groups-abuse@xxxxxxxxxx
[...] Please be assured that the information
you sent to us is being collected and taken into account. While
we understand how annoying off-topic posts can be, we aren't able
to pursue most complaints we receive about them. We are using the
information you provide to make large-scale improvements in
preventing abuse. We appreciate your help in our efforts to
increase the quality of Google Groups. [...]
Don't get too excited. That's an auto-responder message, you get
that from any complaint.
But the alarming thing is "we aren't able...". Of course they are
able, they can remove their access. The only excuse to not do so
is if inadequate or erroneous information has been submitted. This
attitude goes along with their refusal to fix their broken usenet
interface. So, in my mind at least, google has dropped a long way
from 'good guy' status.
