Anyways, April fools were celebrated on this continent well before any
of your colonial countries were founded; arguably before the continents
were discovered by Westerners.

Hmmm, this probably depends on your definition of "colonised"
and "my bit", considering how many settlers buzzed through Europe
even after the Americas have been rediscovered the last time.
