Um, I think it's in Knuth somewhere (although I had a look just now, and couldn't find it in TAOCP2.)

Algorithm 3.4.2R is a more general version, selecting
a sample of size n possibly greater than 1. But be sure
to read the third edition of TAOCP II; the second edition
also has an Algorithm 3.4.2R for the same purpose, but it's
a different algorithm!
