C is defined by the ISO standard. Stick to the standard and exercise
a bit of care, and you can write code that will work properly under
any conforming implementation on any platform. That's an extremely
valuable thing, and it's well worth having a place to discuss it.
Yes. but that's not a reason to hijack comp.lang.c
A tiny proportion of programmers write real "anytime anyplace C". If
they are smart enough to use an API they are smart to reason their code
is not portable in a lot of cases unless that API is portable.
The bottom line is this : if you can HELP a person with a C related
issue then help them. Else ignore. Do not start yelling and showing off
like Falconer and his motley crew.
The fact that there is a MIXTURE of programmers here makes advice gained
here valuable.
