Mu. I have been posting to clc for about a decade.

Marvellous. I recall posting a little earlier than that.

Great - then you can verify the above easily from personal
experience.

Actually when you think about it, I can contradict it from personal experience - otherwise I'd not be commenting in this tedious thread.

(remember, we don't know what nyms you've used,

Yes you do:

Groups)

I'm afraid thats not evidence, its just a witness statement. It may be accurate, indeed it very probably is (though I suspect that you may have had some other long-forgotten acronym from student days or whatever, I know did), but its essentially unprovable.

And finally, the insertion of the words "what I consider to be
valid" makes your statement worthless,

Not at all. Do you bother to ascribe significance to criticisms of
your own articles that you do not consider to be valid?

Certainly not. I don't ascribe significance on my personal view of validity. Thats a ridiculous way to assign significance.

Say for instance someone called me a mean-fisted jock. Its an invalid criticism as any of my drinking buddies would confirm, but it is still significant since it might mislead someone who doesn't know me into forming a false impression of my character.

If J Random Troll wanders in here and keeps slagging you
off, do you not begin to ascribe low significance to his ramblings?

If J Random Troll wandered in here and repeatedly stated that he had access to a police report naming you in connection with Operation Ore, would you consider that insignificant?

When a politician says "I have
never made what I consider to be a misleading statement" I know at
once that what he means.

I'm a programmer, not a politician.

Well stop behaving like one then.

I would comment on the rest of your post, but I decided that anyone who got to the "and ninethly" line-by-line rebuttal would be even sadder than the two of us. :-)
