Gartner Group are the ones who provided most of the existing estimates.
They claim around 3 billlion lines a year are still being written; in 1999
it was 5 billion.
These figures are totally suspect because...
(a) Gartner Group have a vested interest in COBOL.
(b) There is no really adequate way to assess the situation Worldwide.
Besides, what does it matter?
