Hi Jim,
 
Check out this Economist article on the Indian election. The ruling
party ran a "feel good" campaign, claiming that all was well in the
Indian economy.
 
It appears the majority of the population did not derive any benefit
from the "feel good" economy and they voted the incumbent out of
office.
 
If I were George Bush, I'd be a little worried.
