Michael,
  Sorry that I got Mr. Frank posting to comp.lang.cobol (as well as
comp.lang.pli). In the PL/I group, most people have learned to just ignore him.
He CONSTANTLY says,

 I made such-and-such a statement and no one contradicted me, so I must be right

   or

I showed how to do this in Fortran and no one showed me how to do this in
"language x" so THEREFORE "language x" can't do it.

Unfortunately, if you ignore him, he doesn't go away - but if you "killfile"
him, at least you won't be bothered (too much) with his trivia, mis-information,
lack of logical conclusions, and basically irrelevant posts.
