Oh, I don't know. It is quite possible they have some programs hanging around they have lost the source code to. More likely
however, it was some fool PC based front end system that caused the problems, and then, as you say, they had a tremendous backlog to
handle.
Still, it had to be something pretty drastic - because a bank that size has a DAMN good disaster recover plan.
