I am guessing you are running a Windows platform. If this is
the case take a look at the Zeus for Windows editor.

Zeus can be easily configured to run the compiler within the
editor and can be configured to parse any error format (ie. just
define a regular expression to identify an error).
It even comes with Cobol syntax highlighting pre-defined :)
