No. The A310 is still limited by the same physics as any other plane.
A quarter century after the Erebus crash one would hope that the
systems have improved, and also learnt from accidents and errors.
Suggesting that it would have been better to have used an A310 instead
of a DC-10 is rather pointless, if Amelia Earhart had used an A310 she
wouldn't have been lost in the Pacific.

Locally we have just got a fleet of A320s, I went on one a couple of
weeks ago. Reports show the pilots to be enthusiastic with no
reluctance at all.
