General Duties/Description:
SENIOR APPLICATIONS SYSTEM ENGINEER
COMPUTING & COMMUNICATIONS
This posting is for three (3) current openings in Administrative
Information Systems Division of Computing & Communications.
Applying to this position places you in consideration for all three (3)
current opportunities.
The University of Washington is seeking a Senior Applications System
Engineer to work as a member of a team supporting financial, budget and
planning, payroll, benefits and human resource information systems. The
successful candidate will play a key role in developing and supporting
applications on mainframe platforms and distributed databases, on-line
and batch systems, and interfaces across multiple computing platforms
utilizing COBOL, mainframe ISAM, distributed databases and Internet
based technologies.
Requirements:
This senior position requires a minimum:
A Bachelors degree in Public Administration and Finance, Business
Administration, Computer Science, a related field or equivalent
experience in a higher education environment.
A minimum five years experience performing progressively more complex
and responsible tasks spanning all phases of information systems
development.
Extensive on-line, database and batch application development and
support experience with demonstrated competence in enterprise mainframe
COBOL, supported file systems and job/workflow control languages.
Extensive on-call/production support experience.
Proven ability to work as a member of a team. Demonstrated excellent
skills for client interaction and written and verbal communication.
Desired:
It is desired that candidates also possess skills, knowledge and
experience that include:
Special consideration will be given to relevant work in the Unisys NX
series mainframe development environment, WFL programming, DMS II
database maintenance and CANDE experience.
Extensive knowledge and working experience with large, complex heritage
COBOL based financial, payroll, benefits and human resource systems.
Prior experience with administrative systems in a large university setting.
Specific experience with ARMS-based financial or ISI-based payroll,
benefit and HR heritage systems.
Condition of Employment:
