That's a question only the management of Fujitsu, LegacyJ, and Kobol to
answer; unless senior management at those companies is actively
participating in this forum, anything that might appear here as to their
motives is, and of necessity must be, sheer speculation unless someone has
certain knowledge.

Hitachi has actively supported ITSCJ participation in J4; the primary ITSCJ
representative on J4 is an employee of that company. ITSCJ fairly recently
became an advisory member; the primary (sponsored by Hitachi) and alternate
(sponsored by Tokyo International University) representatives have expressed
hope to return ITSCJ to active voting status this year.

Acucorp is, and has been for a long time, an advisory member of J4.

The committee encourages, and has continued to encourage, users, vendors,
onsultants, academicians and anybody else with an interest in the future of
COBOL to participate in the standards process, and has done so for my entire
tenure on that committee.
