That could indeed be argued, but then you'd have to take the position that neither the advice offered by Jesus in Matthew 19:12 nor that offered by Paul in 1 Corinthians 7:9 was relevant to the point! Don't think that's the case ...

Only if I take the argument that it "*any* deliberate act that prevents that
from happening, interferes with that union, or "aims" either in a direction away
from procreative possibility is a mortal sin, period.".

Logically one leads to the other.

Ahhh there's the rub. Secular logic cannot be applied to a religious belief. While religion and science can meet, on many grounds, it is not valid to take an abstract secular idea and try to apply it to a belief resulting from theological discussion. Quite simply the two just don't jive.

Step 1 - is there a God ?
Step 2 - what is your God ?
Step 3 - accept what you are saying about your God, but how do you explain the following ....?
Step 4 -
Step 5 -

Not unlike science, acceptance of religious beliefs has to be taken in progressive steps. Neatly bypass any of the prime steps and you finish up in disarray.

I've seen it over the decades, where in semi religious discussions, people will grab a straw out the air and demand explanation. The straw might be Step 101 - impossible, unless you follow through on Steps 1 through 100, first.
