I already have several obsolete wintel boxes around. How much pollution is
generated to produce the power needed to run these? Even in standy by mode
they consume a surprising amount of power and as active firewalls they would
not be in standby. Does the power management software even work with the
confuguration you suggested?
My oldest compaq never did go into true standby after I upgraded to win 95,
using the Compaq supplied upgrade and applying all available maintenance.
The most I could do was to get it to go into screen saver mode.
