I learned early on not to program when I am half asleep. I remember once
working well into the night on a difficult program. As it got later and
later, the 'solution' seemed clearer and clearer to me. "Why did I put in
all this unnecessary stuff?" I asked myself, merrily hacking and plugging my
way through to a 'solution'. Next morning, I gasped in horror that I had
removed a lot of good code and replaced it with nonsense. Years of
experience improved on my 'sleepy programming', but I still avoid
programming when sleepy, if at all possible. :-)
