Economic conservatives are for fiscal responsibility in government.
Balanced budgets, limited spending, and not spending our
grandchildren's inheritances.
But money is power, and the powerful so any such ideals people had
while out of power get corrupted when the acquire power.

Those who believe they know that what they are doing is what God
wants, act as though the means justify the end.
Those who aren't sure about what God wants look to see what actually
happens. They evaluate their actions by their consequences and see
if the actual results are what God would approve of.

I like the concept of equal opportunity. But I haven't seen anyplace
in the Bible that tells us that this is good (does it push equality at
all?). The Bible does say that we should help the unfortunate
though. This doesn't mean "give them the opportunity to help
themselves", unless that in fact *does* help them.
Again - measure your method by its results. If Big Government
handouts create more poor, it isn't working. If Big Business
policies create more poor, it isn't working. Look at results, not
theory.
