God tried that with Israel, as I pointed out in another post. But in 40
years of God's undeniable immediate presence (plagues on Egypt, parting of
the Red Sea, cloud by day, glowing cloud by night, manna every morning, God
going into Moses tent in the form of a cloud, Moses face glowing when he
came out, the ground opening up to swallow rebels, etc.) there were (IIRC)
10 major rebellions. What makes you think people would listen to more direct
evidence today? People believe God did not create us, even when there is no
other reasonable explanation for life (autogenesis). People believe what
they want to believe. Jesus points this out in the story of Lazarus and the
rich man. I used to find that hard to believe, but I have witnessed enough
with my own eyes to see that it is true.
