No, I think that's an oversimplification.

The doctrine of "original sin" ties into it (a doctrine about which I have
serious misgivings).

According to the doctrine of Immaculate Conception, pronounced ex cathedra
by Pius IX on 8 December 1854, Mary was *conceived* without sin. Her
personal sinlessness throughout her life is generally accepted, but some
early fathers disagreed.

As I see it, Jesus was not sinless *by nature*, he was sinless *by praxis*.
The temptations he suffered are meaningless if he was (as is claimed for
Mary) *fundamentally* incapable of succumbing to them. If original sin
there be, I think he bore its stain; that's one of the reasons he chose to
be dunked: "Came John baptizing in the wilderness, [and*] proclaiming
baptism of-direction-changing for [the purpose of] the dismissal of-sins."
(Mark 1:4, my perhaps-too-literal rendering from the TR). (*Alford omits
the "and" and Tregelles considers it doubtful).

His temptations and sufferings are meaningless absent the completeness of a
truly *human* nature.
