Your comment reminded me of a man I once contracted for. He got very rich
from the efforts of our team but was loath to share any of this bounty. I
refused to do further work for him when the job finished, and we parted, not
amicably, but civilly.
Some years later I bumped into him in a bar in London and his scathing
greeting (in a loud voice, for the benefit of the people I was with) was:
"Oh, Hello, Peter... still a one man band are we?"
Without hesitation I replied: "Well, actually, X, I find it impossible to
get by with any less..." There was general laughter all round and he beat a
hasty retreat. I've never seen him since and never mourned the loss.
