Selecting common records from two files.

Hi,
I have two files. I need to select those records from file 'A'
whose first 10 bytes match the first 10 bytes of file 'B'. Rest of
the layout may be different in files A and B.
I need to prepare a third file which contains these qualified records
from file 'A'.
Anyone have used this functionality, please reply to my id.
