Re: Any comments?

Thanks for that insight, Chuck.

Yours is a much less high risk (and, in my opinion, worthwhile) approach.

Everyone is different (thank Fred :-))

everyone else is praying that there IS a heaven...and they'll be in it,
of course...:-)

Maybe my position is unusual on this, but as a Christian I've never been
comfortable with the idea of aspiring to Heaven, much less presuming that
reward. It always struck me as a fundamentally egocentric (and not
particularly mature) motivation for one's behavior.

For a metaphor of obedience, take the chore of washing the dishes after
supper. As a child in the family, what's the motivation? To avoid
getting punished? To get an extra helping of dessert or an extra hour of
television? Or to lessen the workload on somebody else in the family?
I'm more comfortable with the last of these, although I am convinced that
there ain't no such thing as an absolutely pure motive ...

I'll either make it or I won't. I really don't worry about it much; I
worry about doing the best I can do on a day-by-day basis to align myself
with what I believe God's will is for me because I think it makes me a
more productive and useful human being. I certainly don't pray about
Heaven (one way or the other).
