Thank you Daniel! I know I got a bit sidetracked on the religion and
the politics and all, but I really do respect your beliefs. And
especially when you have been so helpful to me on this. I'm a bit
sleep deprived and stressed out. I appreciate the tips and
encouragement, that is very nice of you. I wish I could convert my
team lead to VB right now 'cos that's what a couple of us agree would
be the easiest. But I think he is one of the anti-microsoft
contingent, for some reason he refuses to believe that VB is how we
should go. For our apps, we are simply receiving data feeds,
reformatting some of them, adding them to an Oracle database (currently
DB2 which is going away) and extracting data based on criteria. It's
very simple really. So to him, I think, Cobol was what he knew. And
thinking we were going to aix, he probably thought it would be quickest
to redo the programs in cobol and use microfocus (which we do have but
only for aix not windows). Now, we have this Windows server agreed on,
so we are trying to campaign to keep the existing VB code for the
implementation and then we wouldn't be so bugged out.
Maybe I could use some prayers - I guess I gotta go to church tomorrow.
Thank you again - you are a good guy!
