That is because the 'words that are used' are design to convey the
actual meaning of what he says. If you simply ignore the words and make
up your own mind what he means, and get it wrong, then, yes, he may
have to 'be picking at the words'.
On the other hand, Mr Plinston... it seems as though a particular question
has been found that has, repeatedly, caused Mr Summers to stop replying.
