I thought that there was documentation on how to create a "separatelycompiled"
program to be called (usually dynamically) by both a CICS and non-CICS main
<snip>
By the by, I have a COBOL program that works under CICS TS for VSE that will
tell you if you are running under CICS or not. Not sure if it would work
with MVS, but I can post it if someone wants it.
Frank,
I know it won't help you (yet) under VSE, but with the latest release of LE
under z/OS, there is (finally) a callable service to let you know if you are or
are not running under CICS. See CEE3INF at:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/CEEA3170/2.2.5.9
You may want to work with WAVV to see if this can get added for VSE as well. In
FACT, my guess is that it is at least PARTIALLY thought about because, that page
shows:
29 | Currently executing on z/VSE
the fact that this is not just markeds "reserved for future use" MIGHT (or might
not) mean something. I would HOPE that it would be CEE5INF if VSE support comes
in (or that CEE3INF becomes CEEINF - if it will ever work on OS/400).
