This is a complete stab in the dark - but I would try running the compiler and the app in "compatibility" mode. To do this, right-click the shortcut you use to start the process, and select the "Compatibility" tab. You can usually select "Windows 2000", "Windows 98" or "Windows 95". I'd try Win2K, as it was a pretty seamless upgrade from NT4.

Hopefully someone with more concrete experience will have better suggestions, and maybe even know if mine is right or not...
