Thanks guys,
Tried the microsoft user group and also the 'compatability' thing
(which was new to me), but neither gave a solution. I tried all four
options of the compatibility option but they all gave the same error.
I am going to start a new thread asking for any info about an upgrade
path from VA Cobol.
Thanks again.

Hello,
Has anybody had any experience upgrading from an old Windows NT
Thinkpad with VisualAge Cobol V2.2, CICS for Windows V3.1 and DB2 V7.1
to a new platform with upgraded software.
I tried going to a new XP Pro laptop with the old software and the
experience was brutal and failed.
Specifically the Cobol caused all kinds of nightmares. It installed,
programs compiled, but they all failed upon execution with the same
'The application failed to initalize properly (0xc0000005)'.
Any suggestions please/thanks.
